Rattlesnakes.. in Duqm [?]

If you enjoy the desert wilds during the colder months, these photos will serve as a precaution. These photos were allegedly taken [authenticity remains unconfirmed] at the site where the on-going construction of the Duqm Airport is located.

The place is very beautiful, but you have to take extra care when you are in the area. The rattle snakes are supposed to expose themselves to the sun during winter.

IMPORTANT : PHOTOS BELOW, UNTIL CONFIRMED FROM THE SOURCE,  WILL REMAIN AS AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THE OCCURRENCE OF RATTLESNAKES OR ANY OF ITS KIND IN THE LOCALITY OF DUQM. STILL, THERE'S NOTHING TO LOOSE IF WE APPLY EXTRA PRECAUTION WHEN GOING TO "UNSAFE" PLACES.

Duqm "Hidden" Beach.. Part 4

Duqm "Hidden" Beach.. Part 3

Duqm "Hidden" Beach.. Part 2

Here's more stunning views along the way and on the "hidden" beach.

Duqm "Hidden" Beach.. Part 1

From Duqm town proper, you have to cross a mountain to reach the beach . Though I admired the place, I still don't know its name until now. I am going to ask one Duqm native one of these days and update this post.

Though your feet will hurt will surely hurt because of the loose stones on the path to the beach, you will not notice it because of the wonderful sceneries you will witness along the way.

Sea Creatures of Duqm.. Part 1

The sea creatures on the photos can be found on the coast along the mountainous part of Duqm. Though not known to the natives, these creatures are edible.

Birds of Duqm.. Part 1

These birds can be seen usually on the fish port of Duqm. They flock to the place and feed which only justify the abundance of fish on the Duqm waters.

Rock Garden.. Part 2

A few days after our first visit to the nearby Rock Garden, Dex and I took the other guys for them to see the place. It is just very near the project site we were working on. These photos were taken in the morning so it is not as stunning as the earlier pictures.

Rock Garden.. Part 1

These pictures were taken sometime in December 2008 with Engr. Dex Listanco. One of the great views that Duqm has to offer is the Rock Garden located about one kilometer from Duqm town proper. The stones turns into a magnificient golden color when hit by the rays of the setting sun. The place, though a very sight to behold, very susceptible to abuse of people who visit the place. How I wish the place would be protected by the government before its too late.

Duqm at Sunset...

The following photos were taken by Engr. Jeffrey Gutierrez, one of my office buddies in HanmiParsons-Duqm. His passion on photography produced these wonderful pictures. Having a past time is a necessity when you are working in a very remote place like Duqm, and Jeff had found one, an excellent one actually. Keep up the good work buddy. I would be very much willing to publish more of your upcoming photos here in our blog.

Enjoy the photos folks.

DSME-HanmiParsons : Caring for Duqm Environment

Every last Thursday of the month, almost every staff of DSME-HanmiParsons is busy preparing for yet another precious and delicate task to perform that is caring for the environment.

As part of its corporate social responsibility program, DSME-HanmiParsons in Duqm performs a community service by devoting its Thursday mornings to do its part in caring for Mother Nature.

Aside from promoting environmental awareness, this activity helps in building camaraderie among employees. Its double the fun. Helping in maintaining a healthy environment and building a healthy relationship within the company.
